About Us

Decades of Experience. Direct Professional Responsibility.

Akkredit Könyvvizsgáló és Adótanácsadó Kft. has been active in the Hungarian auditing profession since 1997. From the very beginning, our work has focused on providing independent, professionally grounded opinions and maintaining direct relationships with our clients. We primarily work with Hungarian medium-sized enterprises, but our experience also extends to complex engagements requiring specialized accounting, financial, tax, or forensic expertise.

For our clients, an audit is more than simply fulfilling a statutory obligation. A properly conducted audit provides independent assurance regarding the reliability of the financial statements, may identify significant risks, and can help owners and management gain a more accurate understanding of the company’s financial position. We therefore also consider it our responsibility to communicate our professional findings clearly, understandably, and in a way that supports informed decision-making.

Working with Mid-Sized Businesses, with a Mid-Market Mindset

Over several decades of professional practice, we have gained particularly extensive experience with Hungarian-owned, growing, and increasingly professionalized medium-sized enterprises. We understand the situations in which business management gradually becomes more complex, ownership and management roles begin to separate, new financing or investor requirements emerge, or a transformation or transaction requires a higher level of financial and accounting control than usual.

In these situations, we do not rely on standard templates. We tailor every engagement to the company’s operations, size, risks, and individual characteristics. Alongside the consistent application of professional standards, we consider it essential to understand the underlying business processes and the economic relationships behind the numbers.

Decades of Auditing Experience

Our professional practice extends far beyond the audit of annual financial statements. We regularly conduct audits of corporate transformations, financial and tax due diligence, business valuations, tax advisory assignments, public-sector audits, as well as reviews of Hungarian and European Union grant-funded projects.

Our experience as forensic experts in tax, social contribution, and accounting matters is also valuable in cases where financial and accounting issues must be examined in the context of legal disputes, regulatory proceedings, or complex economic events. The experience gained across these different areas also strengthens our audit work by helping us identify relationships and risks that may be less visible through an approach focused on a single field of expertise.

A Stable Team with Direct Partner Involvement

Akkredit operates with a small, close-knit professional team. One deliberate advantage of this structure is that engagements do not pass through an impersonal organizational hierarchy: senior professionals are directly involved in the work, know the client and its operations, and significant issues can quickly be escalated to the appropriate decision-making level.

Our six-person team enables clients to work with the same professionals over the long term. Continuity is more than a matter of convenience. Familiarity with the company’s previous years, processes, and specific characteristics allows for more efficient work and more accurate risk assessment.

Dr. András Varga and Dr. Zoltán Horváth are directly involved in the professional management of engagements. Professional communication is available in Hungarian, English, and German.

Professional Knowledge and Experience

Dr. András Varga has been a certified auditor since 1996, holds a public-sector audit qualification, and has worked as a forensic expert in tax, social contribution, and accounting matters since 2005. In addition to his practical audit work, his professional activities also include sharing professional knowledge: he is a co-author of the Auditor’s Handbook, published in 2001, and actively participates in the mentoring programme of the Hungarian Chamber of Auditors.

For us, mentoring reflects the same professional philosophy that guides our work with clients: experience is most valuable when it can be shared, and a professional opinion is most useful when the reasoning behind it is also clearly understood.

Independence, Objectivity, and Clear Communication

Independence is the foundation of audit work. Our conclusions are based on appropriate audit evidence, applicable professional standards, and objective professional judgment. Professional skepticism, consistency, and the proper handling of confidential information are integral parts of our work.

At the same time, we do not interpret independence as keeping our distance from clients. We believe in direct professional dialogue. We communicate problems clearly, explain significant risks, and strive to ensure that our audit conclusions are not only technically sound but also understandable to company management.

We Think Long Term

With more than two and a half decades of professional experience, we do not think in terms of a single financial year. We aim to build long-term client relationships while maintaining the professional independence expected of an auditor in every engagement.

Today, we work with more than 100 active clients and have completed over 1,000 audit engagements throughout our professional history. For us, however, experience is not simply measured by the number of years that have passed or the number of engagements completed. More importantly, it is the ability to quickly identify the key issues in a new situation, examine them with the appropriate professional depth, and arrive at clear, well-founded conclusions.

Trust Behind the Numbers. Confidence Before Every Decision.
